For the kids, and the "kids at heart", I have gathered some of my favorite
Santa Web sites this month. To make sure everyone would enjoy them, I participated in all
of the activities. Hey, it's tough work, but someone has to do it.
One of my favorite sites is Santa's village located at www.claus.com.
Here I was able to visit Santa's North Pole village: Mrs. Claus's Kitchen, the Elf School,
the Post Office, the Toy Factory, Holiday Karaoke, and Santa's home, with activities in
each.
Here I was able to read ten things that would make me naughty or nice in Santa's book.
I asked Santa whether I had been naughty or nice, and he said, "Overall, niceness
outweighs naughtiness. Was good a lot last month! Politeness often good, but has room for
improvement. Could help around house more instead of watching so much TV. Expected to move
even higher up "nice" list." Whew! I was sweating it!
I also wrote my letter to Santa, adopted and named an elf, attended Elf School, earned
my honorary Elf Diploma, played Elf School games, and obtained recipes for Santa's
favorite snacks. I had no idea Santa liked one of my favorite Girl Scout snacks,
somemores. However, not surprisingly, he calls them "Give me some mores."
When I started singing along to holiday karaoke, however, I decided it might be time to
move on. After all, I did not want to change my nice status to naughty.
I next visited the Homepage for the Holidays, located at www.merry-christmas.com (page
not available - June 1998). Here I got my letter off to Santa, read tales of Kris Kringle,
printed Santa pictures to color, and downloaded a computer program to design my own
Christmas tree.
My next stop was at Santa's Workshop (http://home1.gte.net/santa).
Although the site is also in Spanish or Portuguese, I decided to stick with English. Here
the Christmas countdown clock reminded me I have only 20 days, 9 hours, 57 minutes, and 44
seconds until Christmas. On this site, Santa is a little more democratic and let me vote
for who I thought had been naughty or nice; let's see, Madonna, naughty; Mary, nice. Santa
will compile my results with all of the other "kids" and post them on the World
Wide Web. From Santa's Workshop, I also started connecting to other Christmas Web sites
via the Merry Christmas Webring.
But time is wasting and Christmas is now only 20 days, 8 hours, 22 minutes, and 11
seconds away, and I still have not bought one gift. I will tell you about the other sites
I found via the Merry Christmas Webring and let you explore them yourself.
I hope you kids and "kids at heart" enjoy these sites as much as I have. To
make it easy for you to reach each of them, I have developed a page
for linking to each of these sites.
And to you, and yours, Happy Holidays!
